What is Mile Square Health Center?
Mile Square Health Center (MSHC), located in the UI Health Medical District at 1220 S. Wood St. Chicago, IL 60608, is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that serves the medical needs of those on the Westside of Chicago. Individuals come to MSHC for primary care, emergency services, substance use treatment, and other services at sliding fee scales to accommodate the healthcare needs of the community and provide equitable care in a timely manner. Care is provided to over 40,000 individuals per year for all forms of treatment including primary care, urgent care, and substance use treatment. In 2023, MSHC saw 425 unique patients for opioid use disorder (OUD) services and halfway through 2024, 362 unique patients have been seen for this treatment. MSHC will serve as the HUB for the Better Together study where participants will be initiated onto MOUD with buprenorphine and connected to their primary care provider for their duration in the study and beyond.
